The CLESOL 2014 Conference is fast approaching, so it’s time to start planning for your presentation.


Conference Venue

Conference sessions will be held in Rutherford House (RH) and the Old Government Buildings (GB) of Victoria University of Wellington’s Pipitea Campus.  Check the timetable for the room you will be presenting in.  Search for the room you will be presenting in to see images of the room and further venue details.




Please practice your presentation in advance of the conference to ensure that it will fit within your allotted time.  To alert presenters that it is close to the end of their timeslot, a volunteer will hold up A4 size cue cards when you have two minutes remaining and when you need to finish.  It is critical that the session finishes on time to allow time for movement between the different buildings.



All presenting authors are required to register and pay to attend the conference. Early Bird registration is open until Friday 30 May (New Zealand Standard Time). You can register and pay online using MasterCard or Visa or request that an invoice be sent to you. Please ensure that all co-presenters are also registered. Non-presenting authors will be noted in the conference handbook.


PowerPoint presentations

Most people use PowerPoint to assist with presentation, but this is not compulsory!  Feel free to present without the use of a PowerPoint if your points can be communicated effectively without this visual aid.  If you do wish to use a PowerPoint, other options are available, including video clips and internet access.


The University computers run Microsoft Office and use VLC players which are able to play videos in most formats.  We recommend WMV or MP4 formats and advise that all videos are tested on the university equipment before the conference to ensure they are compatible.  Please contact the conference organiser to arrange this.


If your presentation software is not compatible with MS Office, it may be a good idea to bring your personal laptop to present, please contact Raynor to discuss.


AV Equipment

All conference rooms will be supplied with:

  • Data / video projector
  • Screen
  • Desktop computer running Microsoft
  • Audio amplifier and speakers
  • Whiteboards
  • Internet
  • Laptop connection – for use with your personal laptop.

Apple/Mac users are able to connect to the university systems.  However you will need to supply your own 'dongle'.  Please note that VUW will not support any Apple/Macs IT issues.
